Justice Minister Carlo Nordio said
Tuesday he was weighing whether to send the case of the head of
Libya judicial police, arrested in Turin Sunday, to Rome's
prosecutor general (PG) given the "complex" file against an
allegedly brutal official wanted by the International Criminal
Court (ICC).
"The request from the International Criminal Court for the
arrest of Libyan citizen Najeem Osema Almasri Habish has been
received," Nordio said in a statement.
"Given the complex correspondence and documentation, the
minister is evaluating the formal transmission of the ICC
request to the Prosecutor General of Rome, pursuant to Article 4
of Law 237 of 2012".
Habish has been charged with violent and even brutal treatment
of migrants at a prison in Libya.
