Italian film-maker Nanni Moretti is in
intensive care in Rome's San Camillo hospital following surgery
after suffering a heart attack on Wednesday.
The condition of the 71-year-old, one of Italy's most important
directors, is stable, sources said.
The Palme d'Or winner also needed hospital treatment in October
after heart problems then.
An indiosyncrartic director with a talent for quirky comedy,
Moretti sprang to fame with Ecce Bombo (1978) and is known for
modern classics like Bianca (1984), La Messa E' Finita (1985),
Palombella Rossa (1989) and Caro Diario (1993).
He won the 2001 Palme d'Or with The Son's Room, in which he also
acted in the role of a father reeling after the accidental death
of his teenage son.
