A visit to Dublin by the Deputy Minister for Enterprise and Made in Italy, Valentino Valentini, marked a significant first step in the action of strengthening economic and trade relations between Italy and Ireland. This was underlined by the Italian Embassy, which is constantly committed to this front in collaboration with the Italian-Irish Chamber of Commerce, the Agency for the promotion abroad and the internationalisation of Italian companies and the other components of Sistema Italia present on the island, as well as with the fundamental interlocution and co-operation with local institutions and interested Italian and Irish companies.
As underlined also by the Irish media, this was the first official visit of a government representative from an EU member state since Micheal Martin's new executive took office. During the mission, Valentini had a 'fruitful' meeting with the Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Peter Burke. On Monday, he also witnessed the signing of a promotional marketing agreement between the director of the London office of the ICE Agency (ITA), Giovanni Sacchi, and Michele Esposito, of Sysco Ireland, Ireland's largest specialist in the catering 'food service' sector: an agreement that aims to increase the visibility and presence of authentic Italian products in Ireland to meet the growing demand for Italian agri-food products.
The deputy minister - accompanied by the ambassador in Dublin, Nicola Faganello, the president of the Italian-Irish Chamber of Commerce, Furio Pietribiasi, the director of the ITA Office in London, and the president and secretary general of Assocamerestero, Mario Pozza and Domenico Mauriello - then had the opportunity to visit some of the main Italian companies operating in Dublin. And finally he opened the conference 'Bridging Horizons: Irish-Italian Economic Partnership' in the evocative setting of the exhibition 'Italia geniale: Design Enables' dedicated to the excellence of Italian industrial design and opened on 11 March at the RDS - St. Mary Church of Ireland on the occasion of Design Day 2025.
