The Italian Ambassador to Mexico, Alessandro Modiano, met with the executive council of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Chamber of Deputies of the Latin American country's Congress.
The meeting was attended by the chairman of the Commission, Pedro Vázquez (Labour Party) and the 18 members of the junta, nine of whom are members of the majority party Movimiento de Regeneración Nacional (Morena), to which the President of the Republic, Claudia Sheinbaum, belongs.
During the meeting, which focused on the theme of bilateral relations between Italy and Mexico, Ambassador Modiano and the members of the Commission analysed the dynamics of political, economic and cultural relations, as well as cooperation in the fields of security and justice, agreeing on the opportunity to relaunch parliamentary diplomacy between the two countries.
'During this morning's visit,' Modiano said, 'the members of the Foreign Affairs Commission expressed great appreciation for the role that Italy and our country's companies play in Mexico and the desire to further strengthen ties. There are great opportunities to intensify both trade and investment flows and we must therefore work hard to be ready to seize them'.
