It would be useful to send Italian
military staff and experts to Ukraine to understand the conflict
with Russia and glean what lessons it may have for Italy's
defence, Defence Minister Guido Crosetto said Monday.
"It would be useful to send officers and people to understand
what happened, how they fought, what lessons our armed forces
can learn from what happened there and to prevent, because the
task of defense is to defend", he said on the sidelines of the
ceremony to take office of the new commander of the COVI joint
operations command, General Giovanni Maria Iannucci.
"If it were possible to do it safely and after parliamentary
authorization," Crosetto added, "I think it would be very useful
for our defense".
