The Italian Ambassador in Sofia, Giuseppina Zarra, met today with the Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georg Georgiev, on the occasion of the completion of her mandate. The Minister expressed his heartfelt thanks for Ambassador Zarra's efforts and commitment to the development and strengthening of bilateral relations with Italy.
The conversation was also an opportunity to take stock of the excellent state of relations between Italy and Bulgaria and the opportunities for further development of strategic coordination in the context of a changing international framework characterised by common challenges, in which Bulgaria and the Black Sea region occupy a crucial position for the security of the European Union and the eastern flank of the Atlantic Alliance. Minister Georgiev then expressed great satisfaction with the partnership in the defence field, emphasising Italy's role as the Framework Nation of the NATO Multinational Battle Group deployed in Novo Selo.
During the conversation, the excellent interaction between the two countries and the fruitful cooperation in light of recent international and European developments was confirmed. In addition to bilateral relations, topics discussed included the importance of cooperation in international formats, the latest internal developments, as well as regional and global challenges. Special attention was also paid to future prospects and the importance of cooperation within the EU.
