Emanuele Orsini, the president of
Italian industry confederation Confindustria, said Thursday that
the prospect of the United States putting new tariffs on
European goods was undeniable worrying.
"A paradigm has broken down," Orsini said.
"We need courage and we need to act immediately with a long-term
vision. Europe must put the competitiveness of the industrial
system and, therefore, social growth at the centre (of its
agenda).
"The concern is undeniable.
"It is an unthinkable paradigm shift and all of us European
entrepreneurs were confident that it would not happen.
"We only have one option: to change immediately with
extraordinary measures for an extraordinary moment".
